OKclever Behind-the-Scenes: A Hilarious and Chaotic Shoot of Pet Medical Equipment

But today, as an OKclever ops staff, I’m here to spill the chaotic, hilarious tea behind those sleek shots.
I just finished a one-day shoot focused on veterinary medical equipment. We didn't rent a professional studio. Instead, we directly chose the highly popular pet dog cafe as our shooting location.
The polished and professional-looking finished images on the website, with a clinic-like atmosphere, are just the surface. Behind the camera, there is only a chaotic yet adorable scene, filled with all kinds of mishaps, energetic dog models, and the funny daily routines of the entire team frantically handing out snacks and wiping equipment.
Today, from the perspective of the staff, I will share the real behind-the-scenes of the shooting process without reservation with everyone.
Why We Test and Shoot Veterinary Devices in Real Pet Scenarios
The objective of this shooting is very clear: to take real-life photos of pets for Europe and America, covering pet blood pressure monitors, laser therapy devices, veterinary thermometers and smart devices.
I had thought I could use the docile dogs in the store as special models,reality has dealt us a hard blow - a room full of dogs simply don't care about our content schedule. The incessant barking throughout the venue never stops.
What Happened During Our Chaotic Pet Equipment Photoshoot Day
During the first hour of the shoot, the chaos was at its peak. We placed the top-secret handheld pet laser device flat on the table. The Doberman and the Golden Retriever broke free from the shop assistant's grip and rushed straight towards the illuminated screen of the device, using their paws to scratch at it. What was even more disastrous was that all the dozen or so puppies in the dog cafe rushed over upon hearing the noise, circling around the equipment on the ground. While we were holding back the puppies that were running around, we managed to complete the shooting with a perfect angle for a few seconds.Pipi (a Corgi) instead curled up on the product backdrop and fell into a deep sleep.The photographer, feeling frustrated, took a funny non-essential shot and quipped: "No wonder we always need to set aside half a day as a buffer time for each outdoor shooting. The energetic puppies at the dog cafe are just too hyper."
How Real Dog Cafe Scenes Verify Our Device Durability & Usability
The dog cafe shooting also encountered many unexpected incidents: from time to time, the pets of the customers who came to the store would come over to watch, and the puppies would rub their bodies all over us, leaving us covered in fur. But it was precisely this truly lively environment that enabled us to capture more authentic and raw images of the offline pet stores.
When overseas clients saw the pictures, they could intuitively feel that the equipment was still functional and easy to clean in a multi-pet cohabitation environment, and even the pet owners came up to inquire about the product.
Of course, the behind-the-scenes footage is not all funny mishaps. The instruments are dirt-resistant and easy to clean, and they are suitable for both timid cats and lively large dogs.
In the dog cafes, repeatedly cleaning the equipment and soothing the pets is also part of our process for testing the durability of the products.
Key Insights & Product Optimizations From On-Site Pet Testing
When the shooting reached the end, the puppies also became quiet. The intermittent snoring sounds created a sharp contrast to the previous hustle and bustle.Perhaps the significance of having pets lies in the fact that, whether in a noisy or quiet environment, they will always be by your side, accompanying you through every fulfilling day.
This chaotic shooting at the dog cafe also led to the discovery of some practical tips that will be used in all future outdoor product shooting: always have extra cleaning supplies on hand, prepare plenty of pet snacks to distract the pets, set up separate shooting barriers to isolate other small animals and prevent stress in the pets. The R&D team also visited the dog cafe halfway through to observe the interaction between cats, dogs and equipment, record the optimization directions, and iterate the equipment to make it more suitable for global veterinary clinics and comprehensive pet stores.
